Job Title: Chamber Manager
Reports to: Chamber President
Position Summary:
This position plays a vital role in the experience of visitors to Franklin County.
The position requires a minimum 15-hour workweek with occasional early morning, evening, and weekend work schedules. The incumbent must be a self-starter and have strong command of their time commitment and priorities to get tasks done. There are events throughout the year that require additional hours as needed that will include weekends and evenings. To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each essential duty/responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. Expected job duties are as follows:
- Perform miscellaneous clerical duties including a variety of correspondence in the form of letters, email, phone, and in-person.
- Gather and organize website changes to submit to the website manager.
- Maintains all memberships, including additions, renewals, and cancellations.
- Manages promotional events such as ribbon cuttings and beautification.
- Organizes event activities, committees, and dates for annual events.
- Manages promotional materials & advertisements in area publications, including reorders.
- Process utility bills and submit them to the county Treasurer. Prepare the annual request for county utility reimbursement.
- Process monthly Hotel/Motel distribution checks and ensure proper use.
- Use Quickbooks to write checks, send invoices, make bank deposits, balance checking accounts, prepare quarterly and annual tax preparations and payments.
- Prepare meeting Agendas and Minutes for board meetings.
- Coordinate chamber activities, committee meetings and events.
- Generally assist wherever needed.
- Attend workshops related to Franklin County.
- Work closely with other organizations in Franklin County (Franklin County Industrial Foundation, Mt. Vernon Main Street, United Way, Key Club and Downtown Business Association).
- Keeps the chamber office neat and clean.
Supervision:
Works under the supervision of the Chamber President.
Qualifications/Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Computer/Quickbooks knowledge
Specifications:
Must be neat in appearance – Business attire (no t-shirts, jeans, shorts, etc.)
Must have full knowledge of basic office skills, including typing proficiency
Must demonstrate interest in local activities and events
Must have a general knowledge of organizations/locations in Franklin County
Must have general knowledge of people and places in Franklin County
Must not have a conflicting job or business interests
Must maintain a mature attitude in all business and personal affairs
Hours of Operation:
Monday thru Friday – 10:00 am to 2:00 pm 9:00 am to 4 p.m. (an hour for lunch)
Benefits:
Vacation – one (1) week after 1 year – two (2) weeks after 2 years
Sick Days - Five (5) days (after 3 months)
(vacation and sick days are automatically calculated by Intuit for payroll)

Christmas
If a holiday falls on a weekend, the manager will be able to take either the day before or day after the weekend as their holiday.
Death in Family – three (3) days off (for immediate family; spouse, children
mother, father, siblings, grandparents). If these days are on workdays
they will be paid.
Evaluation will take place by the Executive Committee (President,
Vice-President and Treasurer).
This position is evaluated yearly by the Executive Committee. The December board meeting will vote to re-hire manager yearly.
Physical Requirements:
Must use written and verbal sources of information.
Must use oral communication to perform work.
Must possess digital dexterity.
Must make general decisions in the absence of specific directions.
Environmental Conditions:
Work is performed under basically normal working conditions, as in a standard office environment.
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Incumbents may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
All new hires are placed on an introductory period for the first 90 day of employment. During the introductory period, you and the Chamber will have the chance to see that you can satisfactorily accomplish the job requirements. After completing the introductory period, you will be reviewed by the Executive Committee. If your performance is satisfactory, you will be taken off introductory status. If your performance is not satisfactory during the introductory period, you may be terminated or your introductory period may be extended for up to an additional 90 days.
I understand that all employment and compensation with the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce is “at will” and may be terminated by Franklin County Chamber of Commerce or by me at any time and for any reason or no reason at all with or without notice.
